Most people think of them only for wire but you can use them with silk, cotton or nylon thread. Wire guardians help keep the thread from fraying and get a nice clean finish with a bit of movement between the beads and the clasp. A crimp bead and a crimp cover are important when using wire guardians with thread. After attaching the crimp bead and squeezing it shut, tie a knot just below and dab on some glue. Then add your crimp cover.
